A Year in Luke/ActsSample

We can see the power of prayer and worship throughout this chapter. Through prayer, Paul knows what cities to go to. Women gather by the river to rest and pray. Through prayer, the diviner is delivered of an evil spirit. While worshipping, Paul and Silas are released from prison, just to name a few. The events that we read about in these chapters, that come as a result of prayer and worship, should tell us something about the importance of these spiritual practices. At the core of true worship and true prayer is a heart of humility.
All throughout scripture, we read about 2 kinds of people: those who humble themselves under the leadership of Yahweh, and those who glorify themselves to a place of authority. The lesson here is that something changes when we give the Holy Spirit the highest seat of authority. Our lives are designed to be bent towards one thing: living in relationship with our Heavenly Father. All other things will fall into place when that becomes our life's purpose.
