A Year in Luke/ActsSample

Paired with the themes of worship and prayer, we continually see Paul, and those who travel with him, set aside time for Sabbath rest. It's important to notice the specifics of how they choose to spend that time. In Western church culture, Sabbath generally appears as more of a ‘do-nothing-day,’ or ‘me-time,’ or something similar to that. In this chapter, Paul and Silas are undoubtedly tired and probably just want a break from people… But, at least for a portion of their Sabbath day, these men choose to spend their time in intentional prayer with a group of other believers. Receive this as an encouragement today: there is nothing more life-giving and energizing than spending time in prayer with fellow believers.
