A Year in Luke/ActsSample

After the Passover meal, Jesus and the disciples went off to the Mount of Olives. This is where we get to see a conversation play out between Jesus and God the Father. In one of His most “human” moments, Jesus prays, “Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done” (Luke 22:42). It’s a beautiful reminder of everything it cost Jesus to go to the cross. He wasn’t just facing down death, but N.T. Wright says “he knew this death would carry with it the full horror of darkness, of God-forsakenness. He was going to the place where the evil powers of the world could and would do their worst at every level.” But Jesus still willingly went for us, knowing that He would rise three days later.
