The Kid: An Advent Devotional for Middle SchoolersSample

The Kid gave us life—true life! That’s what the very first Christmas shows us. But still, there’s so much more to the story. After the Kid grew up and before He died on the cross, He did some amazing things. He gave sight to blind people, made those who couldn’t walk get up and move, and even brought people back to life. But then, in an amazing act of love and power, Jesus died on the cross for our sins. For three days, everything was quiet. His followers were probably confused and worried, wondering if Jesus was who He said He was. Then, something incredible happened: Jesus came back to life!
That’s what made the arrival of the Kid thousands of years ago so important to us today. We don’t have to go through days of silence wondering if Jesus is the real deal like His followers did back then. Instead, we can look back from His birth to His resurrection to know that following Jesus is the way to live.
Today, let's be thankful and confident, knowing that Jesus is the way to God and that we never have to question His love and power.
