Conquering Giants
As we read 1 Samuel 17, we see a young shepherd named David who steps up to fight a giant named Goliath. David was outmatched on all fronts. Goliath was bigger, stronger, and more experienced than him, but with a few stones and a sling, David was able to defeat Goliath! Because David trusted in God’s power, he was able to bring Goliath down!
Everyone at some point will face one of these “giants”. These giants could look like a tense friendship, depression, anxiety, or something that the enemy reminds you about from your past. It could be something that you’re nervous to face or something that seems too large for you to handle.
This story is a powerful reminder that no matter how big our “giants” may be in our lives, we can know that God’s power is greater than any barrier we may face. Just like David, if we find our strength in God, we can face our giants with confidence knowing that God is fighting for us! We can also be a reminder to the people around us that no matter how big our problem may look, our God is always bigger. When we are bold enough to stand in God’s strength, we give others around us the confidence to invite God into their battles and experience victory!
