Daily Direction Reading Plan

DAY 267 OF 365

We all know that life on earth would be impossible without the light of the sun. Plants, animals, and people all depend on sunlight to exist and grow. This necessity of sun for physical life helps to illustrate a truth the Apostle Paul made about the spiritual life we have in Christ. In 2 Corinthians 3, God established the new covenant through the sacrificial death of Christ. As a result, God’s life-giving Spirit now lives inside of all who trust in Christ. When we choose Him as our Savior, God declares us not guilty. Immediately, God’s Spirit begins the process of changing us from the inside out. God sets us free from the bondage of sin and death. God’s Spirit works in us to shape us into the likeness of Christ. The more we focus on Christ revealed in the Scriptures and apply these truths to our lives, the more we reflect the moral likeness of Jesus. Paul expressed it this way: “The Lord is the Spirit. And wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image.” As God’s Spirit works in us, people will see the change—in our home, our church, on our job, and in our community. As that happens, God’s glory shines out for all to see, and God is thrilled.
