The Lord Will Lay Waste the Earth By now everyone in America has heard about what Hurricane Katrina did to the Gulf coast. How suddenly those howling winds could rip the roof right off your house! Even worse, when the levees were breached, how rapidly that rising water could suddenly turn your beautiful home into mildewed and moldy trash. Your possessions could be buried under inches of mud or simply float away. How important it is not to fall in love with our stuff! A catastrophe is coming that will make Katrina seem small. Through his prophets God has sent word that the earth as we know it will be utterly destroyed. "See, the LORD is going to lay waste the earth and devastate it; he will ruin its face and scatter its inhabitants. The earth will be completely laid waste" (Isaiah 24:1,3). Those who heeded the hurricane warnings saved their lives. Those who heed Isaiah's warnings will save their souls too.
