Holy Over HustleSample

Addicted to Busy We tell ourselves it's all going to be ok. Even though we're stretched past the point of breaking, everything will work out somehow. If you are overwhelmed and exhausted when you wake up, it may be time to ask the Lord how to do things differently. When we follow the world's examples of success, we run too fast on a treadmill that we can't control--it controls us. When we have no margin around our lives, when we go from before sunrise to beyond sundown, when we feel tired and cranky all the time, we may be addicted to busy. But I have to hustle, or things won't get done! If I don't do it, no one will. We won't be able to afford our life if I don't do everything. There is no way out. This is the only way I know how to operate. If this sounds familiar, it may be time for a change. The only way things change is if you are willing to do something different than what brought you to this point. In certain seasons, perhaps a little hustle was necessary for survival. But then we get past that season and don't know how to slow down. Hustle is not sustainable long-term, even if it is the only way you have ever known. There is another way-- You can choose HOLY. Choosing HOLY means recognizing you can't do this anymore. It takes sitting with the Lord and letting him rearrange your priorities. It means letting go of what (or who) he asks you to in order to do important Kingdom work. Choosing HOLY over hustle allows God to help you create a holy margin around your life so there is sacred space. And if you keep choosing HOLY enough, you will eventually be able to operate from overflow instead of lack. John 10:10 says that the Lord has abundant life for us! Do you believe he has better for you than the hustle you use just to get by? For today, recognizing that you may be addicted to being busy and operating in the world's system of lack, hustle, and never enough is a good start. The Lord can REDEEM your time if you will let him. It's time to choose HOLY. PRAYER: Lord, I can't continue this way. I have been running too hard and too fast for too long. I don't know how to stop or even get off this treadmill. Will you help me? Will you show me a new way to operate so I can do more of what is important to you? Please redeem my time, my life, and my schedule. Change me from the inside out! In Jesus' name, amen.
