To hear this audio, visit your plan at www.bible.com] "God Sings Songs for Those Struggling With Pride" The Lord writes songs for those who are experiencing anguish, fear, and for those who need healing on account of their own pride. The bedrock of all sin is pride, and so to various degrees, we all struggle with pride in our lives and the pain that it causes us and others. This psalm is for us. The writer of Psalm 10 experiences the reality of the pride of life, and expresses these feelings through song. Interestingly enough, the Psalmist, though they await God's deliverance, notes that human pride not only vexes its victims, but also imprisons and makes helpless those who remain in their pride. Charles Spurgeon wrote this about the Psalmists' struggles in Psalm 10:  “To the tearful eye of the sufferer, the Lord seems to stand still, as if he calmly looks on, and does not sympathize with his afflicted ones. Nay, more, the Lord appears to be afar off, no longer ‘a very present help in trouble,’ but an inaccessible mountain, into which no man would be able to climb. The presence of God is the joy of his people, but any suspicion of his absence is distracting beyond measure. Let us, then, ever remember that the Lord is near us. The refiner is never far from the mouth of the furnace when his gold is in the fire, and the Son of God is always walking in the midst of the flames when his holy children are cast into them. Yet he that knows the frailty of man will little wonder that when we are sharply exercised, we find it hard to bear the apparent neglect of the Lord when he forbears to work our deliverance.” Do you feel as if the Lord is hiding from you or those you love today?
