God Sings Songs For The Forgotten

DAY 1 OF 10

[The audio portion of this devotional is not available on your device. To hear this audio, visit your plan at "God Sings Songs of Deliverance"  What do you do when life falls apart? King David, one of the greatest songwriter's in history, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit wrote a song about God's deliverance. Here's what had happened to David: When David sinned with Bathsheba and ordered the death of her husband, Uriah, David subsequently repented when the prophet Nathan confronted him. However, David’s sins set in motion a series of God-ordained devastating consequences. David’s oldest son, Amnon, raped his half-sister, Tamar; Tamar’s brother, Absalom, took revenge by murdering Amnon, and Absalom fled into exile for several years, and only later was permitted to return. (Read more in 2 Samuel 15-16). These events and more that followed were among David’s most traumatic and humiliating experiences. To a great extent David’s foes rose against him as a result of some of his own sin and error. Though David was not innocent in all the matters of his life, he knew where to go for his help. He turned to the Lord in Psalm 3 and trusted fully that God would be gracious and powerful enough to sustain him, bless him, defend him and save him. God’s song through David clearly demonstrates to all believers that God delivers us, even sometimes despite our guilt, and it glorifies God when we cry to him for such deliverance, even if our own sin in some way has brought about some of our circumstances. Let us praise Defender who is both Merciful to us (withholding all that we deserve), and Gracious (giving us all that we don’t deserve).www.bible.com]
