14 Prayers for a Widow's JourneySample

...let not your hearts be troubled...
The air is dense with heavy rain. Lightning flashes and thunder rumbles long, low growls rather than sharp claps. Trees bend beneath the wind, the leaves tumbling, churning. And the flowers! They droop and tear under the intensity of the downpour.
Grief is like this rain. It’s drenching. Damaging. Relentless.
It’s so easy to forget that He’s the one who said to the storm, “Peace! Be still!” And the waters calmed. The winds ceased.
He can calm our stormy hearts, still the thunder and lightning of our grief. In the midst of the gale, He can give peace.
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.
