14 Prayers for a Widow's JourneySample

...train yourself for godliness...
Lord, I smile as I remember our first apartment, the thrill of sitting at our own table, and the intimacy of hanging our clothes in the same closet. I remember learning to respect his engineer precision while he learned to give me grace when I was less than precise. Learning to be a couple was challenging but fun.
Now I must learn to be an individual, also challenging but so not fun. Now come tears instead of smiles and confusion instead of excitement. I’m finding I can easily and naturally become self-oriented since there’s no one here to think about but me.
Or there’s another option: I can strive to become godly—which should always be my goal, married or single.
Have nothing to do with irreverent, silly myths. Rather train yourself for godliness; for...godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.
