Time With God in the Car LineSample

Did You See That Cow?
“Mom! Did you see that cow?” I did not expect to hear that from my daughter as we waited in the first-grade car line. She likes to joke with me, so I decided to go along. I looked over to my right, and there it was, a cow beside the row of cars! The stopping and going had been part of our lives for years, but a roaming farm animal was a first. Eye contact was made through the chewed cud, and laughter filled the backseat.
I got distracted and stopped moving. You all know halting the traffic flow is not good for morning drop-off. A horn honked and got my focus back on the path before me.
The enemy likes to use distractions. He does not want you or me to walk in the gifts and calling God has placed on us. Satan knows we are here to spread the good news of the gospel. If he can keep us off track, he will use whatever he can to stop us.
How do we keep our hearts and minds focused on the Lord?
Our verse reminds us to keep our gaze fixed straight ahead. There may be shiny trinkets glistening in the corner of your eye, but they are not as they appear. Daily time in God’s Word allows your thoughts to be on Him first. This keeps the action of your feet away from wicked interruptions.
Pray
Lord, help me to keep my thoughts and actions on You and not allow distractions to get me off track. Amen.
