Get Up and Go

DAY 3 OF 5

Will be Saved! Rom 10:9-13 “…you will be saved…For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Some people have used the analogy of a person calling on Jesus in the same way as a person who is drowning calls out to be saved if they see someone near the water. Some people certainly come to Jesus that way amid crisis and trauma in their lives. But others come to Him as a young man or woman when things are peaceful and calm. What is true in both cases, is that it is necessary to call on the name of the Lord to be saved. We must ask Jesus to save us. We must desire that God would grant us forgiveness based on the substitutionary work of Jesus on the cross to be the payment for our sins. In order to do that, we must realize that we need to be saved. When we get up and go to tell others about the message of Jesus, one thing we will see is that many people don’t think they need saving. They are sure they are OK. They don’t believe in the Bible nor that the God we know loves them. One of the ways we can help others see their need for salvation is to tell them what the Lord has done in our lives since we committed our lives to follow Him. There must be a difference to our lives that then becomes the impetus for a desire to change in those who are far away from God. When we live like God really is who He says He is, others will begin to take notice. When we truly live out the gospel, others can’t help but be confronted with the reality of their need to be saved from the effects of the life choices they are making. We know that is called sin, even if they don’t. Our hope is to be near to those who are far away from God, when they like the Philippian jailer says, “What must I do to be saved?” (Acts 16:30). Then we can help them call on the name of the Lord and be saved!
