As we start the last chapter of this book, I would like to bring us a perspective on how to read it. In the Message paraphrase, Eugene Peterson writes this in the James introduction:
“According to church traditions, James carried the nickname ‘Old Camel Knees’ because of thick calluses built up on his knees from many years of determined prayer.”
Today, try to picture the man described above reading the words on the page to you. I believe it can sometimes help us to remember the very real person who wrote this letter, is the same man who walked with Jesus and spent his life praying to God on our and the Church’s, behalf.

About this Plan

The Epistle of James has so much to offer us as followers of Jesus today. It was originally written to Jewish Christians spread all over the ancient world. The message is straight to the point, practical, and challenging. Wherever we find ourselves following Jesus, this letter can help us realize how our spiritual and practical life should be one in the same.
