Daily PresenceSample

I listen to a sports radio show from time to time, especially during football season. It’s my way of keeping up with the “inside” info on the team I follow. Oftentimes there isn’t enough sports news to fully fill a 3 hour radio window in which case the show often does some fun things to keep people interested. One of the side segments they do from time to time is called “Would You Rather”.
Would you rather is a segment that presents the audience and the host with two scenarios and asks the question: would you rather? One particular example went something like this: “would you rather be able to fly or know other people’s thoughts?” As I thought about it there are many superpowers that I wouldn’t mind having but the more I think about knowing others' thoughts the more I think that may be a scary place for a human being to hang out. I just don’t know that I want to know what people are thinking every moment of every day, especially in regards to how they view me.
In a nutshell there’s only one who has this ability-God! He can handle knowing what we can’t because he made us and knows us inside and out. In Psalms 139:1-2 David declares, “O Lord, you have searched me and known me! You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from afar.” He knows our thoughts before they are formed into words, our fears and anxieties, and knows our strengths and our weaknesses. This should not give us fear, but should instead be a way that we can present an offering to God. May he who knows us inside and out have access to everything that we are and most importantly may our thoughts be pleasing to him! Psalms 139:23-24 covers our response to God knowing our thoughts perfectly: “Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting!”
