Don’t Forget a Single Blessing Why does King David tell us not to forget a single blessing? Simply because so often in our busyness, we forget all that God has done for us, or we take His blessings for granted. When this happens, and we are faced with difficult situations, we lose hope and are unable to praise God or trust Him to meet our needs. In Joshua 4, God asked the Israelites to set up memorial stones to remind them and the generations to come, how the Lord parted the river Jordan and allowed them to cross over onto dry land. You may find it helpful to keep a journal, where you regularly jot down the goodness of God in your life: the little answers to prayer, the miracles and the times when you just felt His comforting presence, strength or wisdom. In the days to come, when you are disappointed, disheartened or you find it hard to praise or pray, going through this journal of memories will lift you up and encourage you to hope and trust in God again. I go through seasons in my life, when I am often faced with disturbing and, sometimes, tormenting health issues. At such times, I remind myself of how God carried me through during my treatment of breast cancer, how He healed my daughters of typhoid and meningitis. This brings such a reassurance and confidence that our loving Father, who not only healed us, but met every emotional and financial need, will once again step in and demonstrate His power and glory. Remembering God’s goodness and His blessings, also causes us to be a thankful and praising people. And never forget, God dwells in the praises of His people (Psalm 22:3). Prayer Heavenly Father, I acknowledge that You have done marvelous things in my life. As You bring to my remembrance all the blessings You have given me, make me a thankful and a grateful child, always full of praise for You. Amen.
