Look at Yourself the Way God Looks at You Peter was one of Jesus’ apostles; a great character, who went through his fair share of highs and lows in his time on earth. His family saw in him a son, a husband and a simple fisherman. The other disciples perhaps saw him as an eager beaver as he rushed to walk on the water, but began to drown once his eyes were off Jesus. The servant girl, who was so sure that Peter was one of Jesus’ disciples, was probably convinced he was a liar or a traitor. Yet Jesus thought highly of Peter. Jesus was not concerned about Peter’s faults. Rather, Jesus looked at the future. Jesus saw in Peter a disciple, a witness, an apostle, a leader and a man with great faith. Today, it’s the same with God. God, who created the heavens and the earth and owns the cattle on a thousand hills, looks at you and thinks highly of you. God’s thoughts and plans for you are quite different from the way people think. So, while people may see you as imperfect, flawed and living a useless life, God does not condemn you. He only has precious thoughts towards you (Psalm 139:18). He sees you as His child and an heir (Galatians 4:7). He has planned your future better than you or anyone else could have (Jeremiah 29:11; 1 Corinthians 2:9). He is the one who made you, continues to love you and has destined you for great things. Who then are you to belittle yourself? Declaration God looks at me highly and better than anyone else. He has destined me for great things!
