Though he was seeking solace from his enemies, his words here seem very positive and don’t reflect his situation of trouble. He beseeches his friends to thank the Lord and magnify Him. The word that struck me was ‘enjoy’. God enjoys helping his servant. Let’s say your servant needs some help. Maybe he needs to send some money to his family back in the village and he has come to you. You are a good person, so you definitely help him. Since you are filled with the Holy Spirit, you enjoy the act of helping out. Two weeks later, he comes to you again and asks for money. How would you react then? What if he comes a third time? Would you still be as joyful to help? We definitely start with love, but as the ‘asking’ continues, we may get tired or reluctant. We then end up supporting and helping others simply out of a sense of duty and not because it pleases our hearts. Not so with God, our Heavenly Father. He is ever willing and enjoys helping us, his children. Romans 8:32 reminds us, ‘He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?’ Be encouraged today that God is not only able to, but wants to, and enjoys delivering you from the problems you are going through. Prayer Father in heaven, help me to remember and believe that You are waiting to help me. Irrespective of my mountain, You can and You enjoy obliterating that problem. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
