Is it Written in God’s Word? I usually exhort the congregation at church, when they hear a message, to check the Bible to make sure what the preacher is saying matches God’s Word. Any teaching that does not match God’s Word, does not have to be received. When you hear something that does not go well in your spirit, like ‘God gives you sickness to discipline you’, ask yourself, ‘Is this the favor of God? Are there any scriptures to support this teaching?’ To understand the Bible, we need to read everything in the right context and not just a verse or two. The answer is clear once you align it with Jesus and what He has done on the cross for you. Why would God bestow sickness or disease upon you when Jesus has taken every sickness and disease upon His own body at the cross? We must be assured in our heart that sickness is not from God and that by His stripes we are healed (Isaiah 53:5). But what hope will you have, if you believe the lie that the disease is from God? Now, realize and believe in your heart that our Lord is on your side and His healing is flowing right now through every cell, tissue and organ in your body. Right believing leads to right living! Since you have received Jesus into your life, you are under the New Covenant and it is your New Covenant right to enjoy Jesus’ favor to succeed in every area of your life, including good health, prosperity, a good marriage, peace, joy or whatever is necessary for your life. Prayer Father, give me an understanding heart so that when I read my Bible or listen to a sermon, I will know what Your perfect will for my life is. Father, grant me the ability to know what is on Your heart for me today, so I can enjoy Your favor according to Your Word. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
