Shelter Through the Storm When we face trials and difficulties, it seems as if we are on a ship being tossed by a stormy sea. In such situations, how can we be still and continue to be a strength to our family while a storm rages around us? Every time I face a trial, this verse comforts me and renews my strength in the Lord. However, there are times when I wonder what it means to be still and what exactly I need to do to make that happen. In these times, some of the noises we hear and the distractions we experience could block our ability to enter into God’s presence. We need to stay away from the turbulence outside, so that we hear the still small voice of God’s Spirit, as He comes to comfort and guide us through our trials. When we learn to change our thoughts from negative to positive, we are able to feel God’s love because we are in harmony with Him, and His Spirit dwells in us. To be calm does not mean that the storm is no longer all around you; it means that the storm is no longer within you. The storm may still rage on, but you are free from its effects. It no longer troubles you because you know the One in whom you have put your trust. You are then at a place where you no longer have fear. Sometimes, when difficulties arise, we either allow anger and frustration to push us into violence, or we try to force our will upon the Lord. We will experience true peace when we rest in the Lord, and continue to trust that His will is being done in our lives and that He will carry us through. Prayer Lord, I put my trust in You. I will not fear nor be afraid through trials or testing. Let Your peace guard my heart. Amen.
