Our Life Goal Having worked in the corporate sector for over 18 years, I can’t but emphasize enough the importance of having a clear, specific goal for your team or company, in order to be successful. Without it, people may end up being busy throughout the entire financial year, but not accomplishing anything significant at the end. The Bible calls this ‘vision’ and says, ‘Where there is no vision, the people perish’ (Proverbs 29:18a KJV). Why are we saved? Why did we become born again? Why did we ask to be baptized with the Holy Spirit? Why do we pray? Is it only so that we could be guaranteed a ticket to heaven and escape hell? Is it only because we could be blessed and have all our needs met on earth? Or is it so that we would have successful jobs and careers? Thankfully, the Bible is clear on this subject. While having Jesus in our lives definitely brings us blessings, the primary goal of all followers of Christ is to fulfill and continue to accomplish what Jesus said He came to the earth for. In Luke 4:18,19, Jesus clearly stated His own life goal. We cannot exist for a purpose different from the purpose that our leader lived for. To do this, you don’t have to leave everything and join full-time ministry. On the contrary, in your everyday walk of life, whether you are a student, a salesman, a doctor, a software engineer, an investment banker, a home maker, a maid or a businessman, we all have the same opportunity, to bring hope and deliverance to the people that we interact with daily. Jesus gave us the vision and a mission. Let’s accomplish it with His grace. Prayer Dear Jesus, help me to make this my life goal as it was Yours. Help me be alert to walk in it on a daily basis, unashamed to share You with my friends, colleagues, neighbors and acquaintances. Amen.
