Daily Prayers for My HusbandSample

THE RIGHT BALANCE
His mouth is sweetness itself; he is desirable in every way. Such, O women of Jerusalem, is my lover, my friend. SONG OF SOLOMON 5:16 NLT
There are many levels of love a person can experience, and the love God has for us is the greatest we’ll ever know. Sometimes, though, the love we feel for a spouse can be so great that, before we know it, God slips into second place for our time, our focus, our attention, our devotion. Love is one of the greatest gifts He gives us—He is love. So the best way we can love our other half is to grow our love for God first. The result is an unmistakable and overflowing rush of love between husband and wife that grows over time. God is the foundation that keeps our love sincere, sacrificial, pure, and steadfast—the very things that keep a marriage strong.
Father, sometimes the power my husband has over me is frightening—I feel vulnerable because I am so much in love with him. He is handsome, intoxicating, sometimes even addicting. It’s as though he has me strung by his little finger and I’m helpless to get loose. I struggle at times to keep You at the center of my thoughts. He, and the love that we share, is a gift You’ve given, and I want to cherish him to the fullest. Help me to love You first and my husband second. I’m a better wife to him when You are at the center of my heart. I pray that You will protect the love we share from the world and all its enticements. Instill in us all that is pure and lovely for us to share with each other and with You. THANK YOU, LORD. I LOVE YOU. AMEN.
