HE COMPLETES US [God] put all things [in every realm] in subjection under Christ’s feet, and appointed Him as [supreme and authoritative] head over all things in the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills and completes all things in all [believers]. EPHESIANS 1:22–23 AMP Going into marriage, many couples believe their spouse will fill most, if not all, of their needs. It doesn’t take long to find out that this isn’t the case, which can lead to disappointment and dissatisfaction. But God didn’t create a husband or wife to be the other’s all‑in‑all. If He did, we wouldn’t need Him. He purposely made us in a way that we would never be satisfied and complete without His presence and provision—the kind only He can give. Not that this is an excuse for a husband and wife not to do all they can to love and serve each other, but it’s a sober reminder not to expect something from the one we love that he or she was not made to satisfy. Lord, sometimes I get frustrated because I know I’m not fulfilling every need my husband has. I try, but I know I fall short. I lift him up to You today and ask that You fill the empty spaces I cannot fill. Satisfy his longing to be heard in ways I’m not able to hear or understand. Speak to him with words You know he needs to hear, words of encouragement, conviction, guidance, or simply of Your love. Keep his heart soft when he gets frustrated with me. Please be patient with us as we navigate the places where we need Your grace to come down and fill us. Thank You for my husband and the unique and special man that he is. Help to make me worthy of his love.IN JESUS’ NAME. AMEN.
