Lean on the LordSample

"In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.” Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds,” James 2:17-18. This verse does not need a lot of explaining. ‘Faith without deeds is dead.’ Maybe it is confronting. We tend to think our faith is okay. We believe in God. We go to church. We hear an encouraging sermon, and then we go on with life. Is that wrong? No. Of course, it is good to be encouraged by a good sermon and to go to church, but when was the last time you did something out of faith? When was the last time you talked about God with someone? How long ago did you pray for someone outside your inner circle? We all struggle from time to time, yet this is what Jesus has asked of us. We are saved through faith, but the next step is to go out and do something with it. This doesn’t mean we all have to go out and preach to people. You can do something that fits you. Maybe to encourage people with a scripture, pray for them, or make something creative with a scripture verse. It doesn’t matter what you do, but don’t be passive! Look for something you can do with your faith. Be the hands and feet of the Lord. Dare to step out and ask God what you can do. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to be able to share what you received? Because that is what it’s all about: we receive mercy through faith, then share it with others. God is with you. He will never leave you. He goes with you and will give you strength and guide you in the tasks He has prepared for you. “The Lord makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him; though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with his hand,” Psalm 37:23-24.
