Are you the kind of person who loves a good surprise? Or do you prefer to not experience anything unexpected? Well, it probably depends on what kind of surprise it is. When we're surprised by bad news, a big problem, or a struggle we can't overcome, it's easy to throw our hands up and say, "Well, there's just no hope here." Sometimes it feels easier to give up than it does to believe that something can change. But throughout the Bible, Jesus repeatedly shows us evidence of the impossible. After Jesus was killed, his friends went into hiding, in fear for their lives. While they were in hiding, Jesus appeared. Like, in the room—I don't know how, but he did. And when he appeared, he surprised them with an unexpected message: "peace." And what Jesus said to his disciples he's still saying to us today: that peace can exist in the middle of our discouragement. So when you’re ready to give up, don't give up. Look for God in unexpected places.
