# THE STORY OF YOU AND JESUS Bethlehem was hit by a terrible famine. Crops were not growing, and food was getting hard to find. So Naomi, her husband, and her two sons moved to the land of Moab. Her two sons married women from that land. Then Naomi’s husband died, and her two sons died not long after that. Naomi was left alone with her two daughters-in-law, Ruth and Orpah. With her heart broken and her family gone, Naomi decided to go back to Bethlehem. Orpah went back to her own family, but Ruth went with Naomi. Because Naomi and Ruth were widows and because they were poor, life was not easy. Ruth went out into the fields. There she gathered up the bits of grain that the workers dropped. She and Naomi baked the grain into bread for their food. No one paid much attention to Naomi and Ruth. No one really tried to help them. Except Boaz. Boaz was not poor. In fact, he was quite rich. He owned the fields where Ruth gathered her grain. Boaz saw Ruth. He asked others about her and learned her story. Boaz spoke to her with kindness, helped her, and protected her. Then Boaz married Ruth, saving her and Naomi from a life of struggle. Did you know that the story of Ruth and Boaz is a lot like the story of you and Jesus? Boaz saw Ruth. Jesus sees you—He even knows every hair on your head! Boaz was rich. Jesus owns every inch of the universe. Boaz told the workers to leave Ruth alone. Jesus tells Satan to leave you alone. Boaz saved Ruth and Naomi from struggle. Jesus saves you from sin. Boaz took Ruth into his home. Jesus wants to take you into His. And all you need to do is see and love and follow Him.
