Make the Most of Christmas - by yesHEis

DAY 12 OF 12

# Baby Jesus, meek and… about to save humanity What does Christmas mean to you? Eggnog, baubles, snow, mistletoe, Secret Santa, gingerbread, reindeer, sleigh bells. There’s nothing wrong with all the fun and varied ways we celebrate Christmas. However, in all the noise, it can be easy to forget that baby Jesus, born in a manger, is the same King Jesus that grew to be the Messiah who died on the cross to save the entire human race! Make the most of Christmas this year by sharing the gospel with your friends and family who don’t know Jesus. But what do you say?! How do you explain the Gospel? Is there a script? What if you mess it up? Is there a way to accurately and succinctly share the gospel? There is, and it’s easier than you think. Here’s an easy-to-remember 4-part guide to help make the gospel simple to explain and easy to understand. ### 1\. God’s Position Is Love God loves the world and His love is on display all around you. Romans 5:8 says, “But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”This is not a love that must be earned or achieved, this is a love that is given unconditionally. God shows His love freely to the world. Every sunrise, every moment of joy, music, art, family and friendship are all demonstrations of God’s love. God’s ultimate gift of love to the world is His son Jesus John 3:16. The very love that you experience in your life is a reflection of God’s love. Without God, love can’t exist. God *is* love. ### 2\. Our Problem Is Sin Every person has a spiritual heart problem. Despite God’s love for us, we have gone our own way and this has cut us off from God. This is what the Bible calls sin. Sin is more than "doing bad stuff." It’s an ‘own way’ attitude that puts ourselves ahead of God. Sin not only breaks our relationship with God, but the result is also an eternity separated from God when we die (Romans 6:23). No one can earn their way back to God because God’s standard is perfection. His standard is perfection because He is perfect. Our sin separates us from God, so we need someone to save us. ### 3\. God’s Solution Is Jesus God has not left us without hope. Jesus is the saviour we need to bridge the gap back to Him. Jesus is God (John 10:30) and He came to the world willing to give up His life on a cross and to take the penalty for our sin (Romans 5:8). Jesus lived the perfect life you never could and died the death you deserved. It’s only by belief in Jesus that you can have a restored relationship with God. ### 4\. Our Part Is Response Believing in Jesus means turning from sin and trusting in Jesus as your saviour (Mark 1:15). You can’t just say the words or go through the motions, God knows your heart. Instead, confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead and you will be saved (Romans 10:9). If your friend wants to make this decision to follow Jesus, help them, give them the words to say. Try a prayer like this (get them to repeat the sentences after you): > > > “Dear God. I know you love me. I’m sorry for my sin and that I have gone my own way. Thank you for your son Jesus who died on the cross for my sins and rose again. Today I turn from my sin and trust in Jesus alone. Amen.” > This Christmas, take the opportunity to simply ask your family and friends who don’t know Jesus whether they understand why Jesus is so important. Memorise these 4 steps so you can explain the full picture of the gospel in a way that’s easy to remember. Make the most of Christmas by sharing the full story of the gospel.
