Bible Explorer for the Young (2 Corinthians)

DAY 4 OF 7

## Godly Sorrow 2 Corinthians 7:10 Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death. A switchblade and a scalpel have similarities as well as differences. They are both really sharp and can cause a scar or a deep wound on someone. However, a switchblade is mostly used in a fight while a scalpel is used by a surgeon during an operation with the purpose to help a patient. So, even though they both can cause a wound, these wounds lead to different results. This illustration explains the difference between worldly and Godly sorrow. Godly sorrow is sorrow over sins. Godly sorrow may hurt for a moment but it eventually leads us to repentance and restoration. Like the surgeon’s incision, it causes temporary pain but brings healing. Godly sorrow moves us to confession, repentance and allows us to enjoy His forgiveness and salvation. Worldly sorrow focuses our attention on our failures and makes us stay further from God. Worldly sorrow eventually leads to destruction as it causes a person to dwell in guilt and regret. Let us always live-in repentance, shun evil, and do the right thing. Prayer Dear God, give me a heart that is quick to repent and to turn back to You. Amen.
