Advent in Israel: The Places of Israel & the Story of JesusSample

Day 15 - Mt. Arbel
Located in the heart of the Galilee region Mt. Arbel boasts a beautiful view of the Sea of Galilee. From this high point, the region is laid out below your feet, and you can see the many small towns that still surround the lake.
In Jesus’s time He spent a significant portion of His ministry, especially the early part, in this region. The cities of Zebulun and Naphtali were located not too far from where Capernaum is located along the shores. Isaiah speaks of these two cities and prophecies that, “The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light.” This passage describes a child who would come and bring peace and a kingdom that would last forever.
From this high point we can see these places that Jesus came to bring light to. As Christians, we believe that the light of the world came on Christmas day to this very region and that the world would never be the same.
How does the hope and light that Jesus brings change the way that you live daily?

About this Plan

As we enter the Christmas season, we are all eager to celebrate the birth of Jesus, the point in history where God descended into humanity to bring life to a broken world. Each day leading up to Christmas, we will provide an overview of the biblical significance of a location in Israel, along with a devotional prompt that will connect that location with the life of Jesus in Scripture.
