Through the Bible: 1 Chronicles

DAY 7 OF 10

## God’s Promise > When your days are fulfilled to walk with your fathers, I will raise up your offspring after you, one of your own sons, and I will establish his kingdom. 1 Chronicles 17:11 (ESV) > I will be to him a father, and he shall be to me a son. I will not take my steadfast love from him, as I took it from him who was before you, but I will confirm him in my house and in my kingdom forever, and his throne shall be established forever.’ ” 1 Chronicles 17:13-14 (ESV) In this chapter, God promised David (via Nathan) to let his descendant reign forever. That descendant is Jesus, the son of David.  I am sure David didn’t understand the full meaning/implication at the time when Nathan spoke to him about God’s promise. There is none like God. He is the only one who could make such a promise and fulfill it in ways beyond David's comprehension. We have to bear in mind that our understanding of Him is always limited, for He is omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent. He can work in ways we cannot fully understand, but His provision is always more than sufficient. When Judah went into captivity, people must have thought that God had forgotten His promise without knowing that He did honor it many years later. God gave His only son Jesus to us, save us through Christ. His promise is to give us the best – Jesus Christ. ### Prayer Dear Heavenly Father, You are the omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent God; there is none like You.  No matter what situation we are in, we know that You are still on the throne of heaven working all things together for our good.  No matter how unimportant our position is on earth, we are still Your dearest children in Your eyes and You will definitely provide more than sufficient to all of us.  We pray all these in Your mighty name, Amen!
