DAY 6 OF 7

Your Soul Can Be Saved Your soul is faced with four insurmountable problems that you have no ability to solve. That’s why your soul needs to be saved. But what does it mean to be saved? First of all, your soul needs to be forgiven. Without forgiveness, your soul will remain separated from God. If nothing is done within your lifetime to reconcile you with God, you will be separated from God forever. This is what Jesus came to resolve first, our alienation from God due to sin. The wages of sin is death, and death is first and foremost our separation from the source of life itself, God. Jesus died on the cross so that you can be forgiven once and for all. Second, your soul needs healing and deliverance. Because of sin, your soul is crippled, so much so that you are now unable to love God with your whole being. Consequently, you are unable to love others as well. You have become self-centered. All the parts of your soul are now crippled to such a degree that you cannot use any of them to love God and others with purity. Your heart is filled with shame and guilt, as well as with anger, bitterness and resentment. Jesus came to heal you from these. It will be a process, but if you come to Him now, you will find true healing for your soul. Third, your soul needs to be set free. Your soul is now enslaved by all kinds of destructive habits. But Jesus can set you free by teaching you how to renew your mind and live differently. Again, it will be a process, but that process (which is also called discipleship) will eventually result in you being set free from the endless cycle of sin and death. Finally, your soul needs to be in in a new environment to fulfill its eternal destiny. According to Dallas Willard, we are an unceasing spiritual being with an eternal destiny in God’s great universe. So God will bring us into a new heaven and new earth, i.e. a new creation. Jesus will return for this very reason, to establish God’s kingdom forever. So the good news is that your soul can be saved.
