DAY 21 OF 21

# Day 21 Written by Ps Carol Hanes ## A House Full of Guests ### Read Luke 14:12-24 ### Reflect Most of Luke 14 is about dining and hospitality. Jesus taught these things while the guest of one of the leading Pharisees. It was a Sabbath meal. We can assume it was quite a feast as even today, the best food is reserved for the Sabbath. Jesus noticed how most of the guests chose the best seats for themselves with no deference to others. He highlighted the importance of humility in this and all other areas of life. Then Jesus went to the core truth of His teaching. Those seated at the Pharisee’s table were a privileged few. He radically suggested that the poor, the maimed, the lame and the blind be the preferred table guests. His thoughts were larger than the present company. He was thinking about the Kingdom of God. He pushed His point further with the story of the Great Supper. Those privileged to receive an invitation had refused to come. The Master then extended His invitation to the broken people and anyone and everyone. He finally told His servants to compel them to come as His desire was a house full of guests. ### Respond Present restrictions limit the number of people that can physically gather. However, our Father has no such limits, spiritually speaking, and extends His invitation to everyone everywhere. Take a moment to pray and thank the Lord for your “seat at the table” then ask Him in what ways you can adopt the heart of the servants mentioned in verses 16 - 24. Ask the Holy Spirit to show you innovative ways of inviting others to know our Lord Jesus Christ.
