Walking With Jesus

DAY 34 OF 40

### Become Someone Who Loves Others God has called us as disciples to love others unconditionally and sacrificially. This is a selfless love where we esteem God and others more important than our own needs and desires. We can only give unconditional love once we discover how much God loves us. We must also love ourselves, because we can only love others in the measure that we love ourselves. Self-discovery: * What are the two greatest commandments of God? (Matthew 22:36-40) * How is it possible to love other people? (Romans 5:5; 1 John 4:10) * What are the characteristics of love? (1 Corinthians 13:4-7) * How will the world recognise that we are God’s disciples? (John 13:34-35) Our priorities in relationship should be as follows: 1. God 2. Family 3. Church 4. Work Reflection questions (write your answers in a journal): * Do you think it is possible for you to love God and others and to manifest the agape (unconditional) love of God daily? * How is it possible to love other people according to Romans 5:5? * What do you think is the ultimate way to love someone? * What do you think can separate us from the love of God? Testimony: During our first holiday as a couple, my wife and I had the privilege of leading an intercession team to Rwanda in central Africa in the wake of the genocide. Almost one million people were slaughtered in 1994. In a village we visited a pastor asked me to pray for a specific lady. When I prayed for her I experienced an intense love and compassion for her. As we drove away, the pastor told me that she was raped by more than 40 soldiers during the genocide, but God had done an amazing work of healing and restoration in her life and she was taking care of many orphans. Since then I realised what a broken world we live in and how much the world needs the love of God. People in the world are desperately searching for someone to love them.
