Walking With Jesus

DAY 13 OF 40

### Quiet Time Communication is an essential part of any relationship. We need to spend quality time with one another, both to maintain our relationship and to grow in them. We live in a society where everything is instant and rushed. The devil loves to keep us busy and many times he uses our busy schedules or the media to keep us away from one another and our Maker. God wants us to hear His voice and to walk in revelation knowledge of who He is and what His will for our life is. The Word teaches us to ask God for our daily bread. We need spiritual provision every day and therefore need a place where we can sit at the feet of Jesus and get direction, peace, strength and encouragement from the Word of God. Quiet time consists of reading and meditating on the Word of God as well as prayer and worship. Here is an example of a typical quiet time: #### 1\. Bible reading (30 minutes) * Acknowledge and ask the Holy Spirit for revelation (1min). * Read a chapter out of the Old and the New Testament (15min). * Meditate and think about what you’ve read (5min). * Speak to God what it means to you and ask Him any questions (5min). * Memorise a key Scripture (4min). #### 2\. Prayer (30 minutes) Remember: Prayer is a two-way conversation. * Start with praising and thanking God (4min). * Consecrate your life to God (2min). * Repent and ask forgiveness for any sin in your life (3min). * Acknowledge the Holy Spirit’s work in your life (1min). * Speak to God honestly about your day, feelings, fears, passions etc. (9min). * Pray for the needs of others and for the unsaved (6min). * Bring any personal needs before God (4min) * Thank God for answered prayer (1min). Remember: * Choose a quiet place with no disturbance or distractions * Set out specific time with God every day and stay accountable to another believer * Do not make it a religious ritual – be open for change * There will be times when you experience God in an awesome way, while other times you will not feel much. It is not about feelings or emotions, but faith and faithfulness. Reflection questions (write your answers in a journal): * Describe some of the things that are distracting you and keeping you from spending quality time with God. Action: Now follow the simple steps above and spend time with God. Use Matthew 13:1-24 as the Scripture to meditate on. Make notes in your journal about how the Word can be used in your life considering the types of ground described in this parable.
