Walking With Jesus

DAY 16 OF 40

### Our Father As God's children, we begin to relate to Him as our Father. He loves us and wants the best for His children. Unfortunately, we live in a world where we were raised by imperfect fathers, and this influences the way we relate to our Heavenly Father. What does God the Father look like? The answer is simple: We need to look at Jesus to see the heart of God. Satan wants us to doubt and question the character of God. He is the "father of lies." God wants to tell you today that He loves you and He is proud of you! Reflection questions (write your answers in a journal): * Describe your relationship with your earthly father: * What are/were the three main characteristics of your earthly father that you will always remember him by? * How do you think your feelings about your earthly father influence your relationship with your Heavenly Father? * Look carefully at the following list and give yourself a mark out of 10 for how you relate to God in these areas: Scripture says that God: 1. Protects us (Psalm 91:1-3) 2. Delivers us (Psalm 91:1-3) 3. Comforts us (2 Corinthians 1:3-4) 4. Is our loving Father  (John 16:27) 5. Is our Redeemer (Psalm 103) 6. Is a Father of the homeless  (Psalm 68:5-6) 7. Counsels us (Isaiah 9:6) 8. Is our Friend (James 2:23) 9. Disciplines us (Hebrews 12:5-12) 10. Provides for us (Matthew 7:11) 11. Is our Creator (Isaiah 64:8) 12. Moulds and makes us (Romans 9:20-21) 13. Is full of compassion  (Psalm 86:15) 14. Gives us rest (Matthew 11:28-29) 15. Is patient (Matthew 18:26-27) 16. Is faithful (1 Corinthians 1:9) 17. Is holy (Revelations 16:5) 18. Is without favouritism (1 Peter 1:17) Action: Pray that God will reveal Himself to you in the areas where you did not score high marks. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you see God as your perfect Father. Testimony: I used to live my life trying to please everyone because I suffered from a deep root of rejection. At school I excelled in sports and academics, however, this did not satisfy my desire for acceptance and I felt empty inside. When I became a Christian, my life changed. God showed me how He accepted me and affirmed and loved me as my Father. He often gave me the words that He spoke over Jesus: "You are my son, in whom I am well pleased!"
