## The Walls of Jericho The story of the walls of Jericho illustrates to us that sometimes we have to persevere in order to see the fulfilment of God’s promise. By His promise, God had already delivered Jericho into the hands of Joshua, but he and his army had to walk around the walls once a day, every day for six days, then seven more times on the seventh day before the walls eventually came crashing down. This means the army walked around the walls 13 times before they fell! Sometimes we ‘give up’ waiting on God’s presence – if we don’t feel His presence straight away, we stop persevering and let our mind wander on to something else. Wouldn’t it be crazy if Joshua and his army had stopped walking around the walls on the 11th time? What if they doubted God’s promise enough to make them stop persevering? That would be crazy! In the same way, I would hate to think that I had been just a few more moments of perseverance away from experiencing God’s presence, but gave up the pursuit because I didn’t feel the “tingling, goose bump-provoking” feelings of God’s presence. Be expectant for God today! Never give up the pursuit of God and His presence.
