DAY 4 OF 9

GRACE Grace is a word that gets used a lot by Christians, but do we really understand what it means? If you have ever played a competitive sport, you know that when you compete, your goal is a prize. If you excel in academics, you receive good grades for your work. When you get your first job, that paycheck is what you’ve earned for your time and effort. These are all great things, but grace doesn’t work like any of these. Grace isn’t a prize, it isn’t earned, it isn’t an award: it’s a gift . Grace says, “you don’t deserve this, but I’m giving it to you anyway.” Out of God’s great love for us, He chose to give us forgiveness that we did not deserve. When we place our trust in Jesus – when we become Christians – we are given full forgiveness for every sin we have ever or will ever commit because of Jesus. It’s not Jesus + following the rules, not Jesus + do good stuff…it is simply Jesus. It’s hard for us to fully comprehend just how free this gift really is, but the Bible is very clear…God gives us this grace with zero strings attached, regardless of what we do or do not do. If any part of you has been trying to earn God’s approval or grace, just give up…you can’t ever do it. Accept that this is His free gift to you, and simply praise Him for it. Take time to thank Jesus for this free gift.
