DAY 10 OF 10

Monster Skillet [The video portion of this devotional is not available on your device. To view this video, visit your plan at www.youversion.com] When Jesus saved my life, and I became a follower of Christ, so many things changed for me. When Christ dwells in our hearts, the way we see life is through a new lens. On top of our new vision we now have the helper, the Holy Spirit, guiding us and leading us through every situation. Wouldn’t it be great if once we became a Christian, it now meant we acted perfectly, and we no longer did dumb stuff or acted in an un-Christ-like way? Yeah, that’s just not how it works. When we become a Christian, the bible says that we are a NEW creation. The old has passed away and through Jesus we are made, and are still being made new. Being a Christ-follower is not a one-time event, but a daily decision to live for Jesus, and giving our whole lives to him (even our dark side). But every so often, the old “us”, that dark side, tries to sneak back out. Monster is about recognizing that the old us, the “monster” if you will, is constantly trying to gain hold of us. The “monster” looks different for all of us. I mentioned that for me sometimes it’s with your kids, but maybe it’s something different for you. I’m so thankful that God loves us despite our sinful nature that is constantly trying to take hold of us, and that in those moments, where we feel like the monster is clawing from within, we can turn to a Holy, and Powerful God! Because God became flesh and sin for us, to bear the weight of sin, we can now place the weight of OUR sin upon a perfect God.
