### The White Throne Judgment Thoughts on the Passage This section addresses the sin from a third group – all mankind. · The first dealt with the Antichrist and false prophet – and any who followed them in opposing God. · The second dealt with Satan and those who followed him in opposing God. · This third one deals with the rest of mankind. Everyone will now stand before God and their sin will be dealt with. There are two sets of books. The first is the book of life – this gives the names of everyone who has asked Jesus to forgive their sins. Their destiny is heaven. Everyone who is not in that book goes into the lake of fire. God is holy. He requires that sin be punished. Jesus took every person’s sin upon Himself, but if we refuse to accept His gift of life, then we will pay for our sins ourselves. The second set of books gives a complete breakdown of everything we have done. We see that God keeps good records. It will not require special witnesses, our words and our actions are all recorded and written down. For those whose names are not written in the book of Life, these books contain every sin, every rejection of Jesus, every failure, every breaking of God’s law. It will be a difficult day for mankind. The people of God also face the same inspection. Some say it is here at the White Throne Judgment, others say it happens at another time – it does not really matter which is correct, because we will have our works judged as well. We see in 1 Corinthians 3 that everything we do will also be tested. We are responsible for what we build on the foundation of Jesus as our Savior. Things that are sinful, selfish, full of our own ideas and efforts, or anything that is done by our own strength – have no eternal value. They get burned up and we lose everything. Our only actions that receive a reward come from work done through the Holy Spirit in our lives. That is the only thing that has eternal value, and the only things that we will take to heaven. With this judgment, all of sin – from the beginning until the end – has been dealt with. Rebellion by mankind trying to make themselves like God, rebellion by Satan who tried to make himself as God, and all mankind who chose to try and ignore God and live as they wanted. It is now fully dealt with. Now the Bride of Christ is ready for eternity. The past has been fully dealt with. Prayer Father, that will be a special day. On that day, we will see the last of sin, the last of those who wanted sin more than You, and the last of our failures. None of it will enter into our eternal home. That will be truly amazing. I cannot imagine a place where sin has no presence or no stain on the lives of people. It will all be removed. I want my reward in heaven to be full as well. I know that the things I have done will all be tested – fire will test all my work just like everyone else. Father, give me the heart to walk daily by Your Spirit and to walk as Your child. Give me Your Spirit’s wisdom to know when I am being obedient and when I am deceiving myself – and just doing things my own way. Forgive me when I choose to walk in my own wisdom. Help me to humble myself and follow Your Spirit’s voice. In Jesus Name, Amen.
