### The Return of Jesus - Rebellion Dealt With Thoughts on the Passage Judgment from Jesus. Here Jesus is judging the people who reject His authority and set themselves up as a god in place of Jesus. This judgment on the Antichrist is no longer through angels – it is from Jesus Himself. As a result, it is short, it is complete, and it is final. The rebelling army is totally destroyed, and the two that led the rebellion against God are immediately judged for eternity. The description of the second “banquet” for all the birds of carrion and meat-eating animals gives us another picture. There are no survivors to bury the dead. The bodies lie around until animals consume them. This emphasizes not just the totality of judgment, but also the shame cast upon them. Their bodies lie around without burial because no one will touch them and give them any sort of honor. Here we see Jesus first remove rebellion from nations that reject His rule as King of kings and Lord of lords. It is the first of three kinds of judgment meted out. Sometimes, we get frustrated when we see nations acting with impunity as they abuse, kill, steal, destroy, oppress and humiliate God’s people and the truths of God’s word. This is how quickly and completely Jesus can deal with it – and will deal with it – in time. The nations are brought under the rule of Jesus and He will rule. All rebellion will be dealt with. Prayer Father, when we pray “Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven”, this is ultimately what we are praying for in our prayers. We desire to see the day when governments come under Your authority and Your rule. For those who rebel, judgment comes quickly and completely. I cannot imagine what that looks like, but when I look at the brutality of some governments and leaders, I ask for it to come quickly! Father, as I look at what is necessary to release heaven to the bride of Christ, this is the first thing that needs cleaning up. This evil must be dealt with – and You will do it completely. I am thankful that heaven will never have to deal with this evil again. All the nations will be led by people whose hearts are totally in alignment with Jesus as King and Lord. What a blessed time that will be. In Jesus Name, Amen.
