Why Is My Faith Worth Sharing?

DAY 1 OF 5

First, you’ve got to know this: You need a Savior. Imagine you have a huge platter of saucy, hot wings to eat in a totally white room. Here’s the kicker: You’re not allowed to get any sauce anywhere . Not on your clothes, not on your hands, not on the room—you’ve got to keep it clean. Sounds like mission impossible, right? Our lives are kind of like that. None of us really feel like we’re that bad of a person. We try to keep ourselves and our lives all clean. But then, life gets messy. We lie to our parents about doing our homework when we really watched YouTube videos for five hours. We watch things at a friend’s house that we know our parents won’t approve of. We gossip. And eventually—just like we’d get covered in hot wing sauce whether we’re trying to or not—we get covered in sin. We can’t save ourselves because we’ve all gotten too messy. The sin—wrong choices and mistakes that hurt God, hurt others, and hurt ourselves—gets all over us, and we don’t know what to do about it. We can try to clean up our outsides, but we just can’t fix all of our insides. And that’s how we know that we need a Savior. We can’t clean up what’s inside of us. See, in one of our Bible verses, Romans 3:23 NIV, it says: For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God … Catch that? All of us have fallen short of getting to have a relationship with God, because God is perfect, and He can’t be around our messy sin. But, guess what? There’s some really good news: God loved us too much to be separated from us. So God sent His Son, Jesus, down to earth to live a perfect, sinless life so that He could be the solution to our separation. Jesus died for us to take our place. So, when we choose to accept and follow Jesus, we become friends with God again. Jesus cleans up our sin and fixes our insides. And that’s news worth sharing!
