Historians record that Felix was removed from his position in Caesarea because he had used brutal force to calm a civil dispute between a group of Jews and a group of Syrians. The reports of his savage treatment of the people reached Rome, and he was called to face charges in that city. Reportedly, his brother appealed to Nero on his behalf, which is why Felix was not executed for his crimes. Festus, his replacement, was sent to Caesarea, and he would be the next Roman leader to place Paul on trial. But when they arrest you, do not worry about what to say or how to say it. At that time you will be given what to say, for it will not be you speaking, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you. (Matthew 10:19–20)
