What a strange "feast" the Israelites were supposed to celebrate. Although there are guests and, once again, there is a really good lamb, the side dishes are not really good. It can also not have been very comfortable as they were already wearing their traveling gear. You simply cannot imagine the situation as depressing as it was. A meal deep into the night and people are dying outside. This will certainly not get you in the party mood. You slide as close together as possible and hope that this strange practice with the blood on the doorposts will really work. There was absolutely no certainty that this would really work. There was only the exact instruction from God through Moses, and they had to rely on it. This is called faith. Have you ever noticed that our feasts are also quite strange? At Christmas, we celebrate that the Son of God was born in a stable. On Good Friday, we remember the crucifixion and death of Jesus. What is there to celebrate? On Easter, we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus from the dead, and we hope that this really happened. Otherwise, we would be believing in a dead Jesus, and our entire faith would be absolutely meaningless. Faith means we have to trust what God has done. Faith also means that we have to trust in what God has promised us. Faith sometimes also means that we have to rely completely on God's instructions and simply do what He says. Yes, it takes a lot of courage and trust. ## ACTION STEP: Take all your courage today: Do what God wants you to do and what He has maybe been wanting you to do for a long time.
