Listening To The Word - 1 YearBeispiel

Servants of All
Mark 9:35
“If anyone wants to be first, he must be the very last, and the servant of all.”
Mark 10:43-45
“Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all.”
Jesus redefines leadership in his kingdom with these words. The call to being the “servant of all” was a call to the lowest position in a household. There is power in serving and influencing others through humility and love. Jesus spoke these words in the context of humility being a key requirement for seeing our need for salvation and Christ’s kingdom. Teachability, humility and servanthood continue to mark followers or disciples of Jesus. If people claim to be Christ’s followers and don’t express these attitudes, we need to ask whether they really know Jesus and have allowed him to transform their lives.
Jesus, you are my standard of servanthood and leadership. May others be drawn to you through my life and character today.
