Come to the Feast!Ukázka

Come to the Feast!

DEN 3 z 7

God will prepare an abundant feast for all peoples “On this mountain the Lord of hosts will make for all peoples a feast of rich food, a feast of well-aged wine, of rich food full of marrow, of aged wine well refined.” (Isaiah 25:6) Yesterday, we read about God’s promises of gladness and joy to the people of Israel. But He does not invite just the Israelites to come to the feast. No, it is intended “for all peoples”! This feast is abundant, as described by the richness of food and wine offered. The reason for this celebration is explained in the following verses. The Lord God will remove the veil of mourning that is spread over all nations by swallowing up death forever (Isaiah 25:7-8). He will wipe away their tears and fill them with joy and gladness. This old prophecy by Isaiah is repeated in the last book of the Bible, Revelation. John sees and hears in a vision how God dwells with man in a new world without death, mourning, or pain. As long as we live here on earth, even a life with God is not perfect since we are confronted with sin and its consequences. The death of a loved one, physical pain, or spiritual struggles can drain our joy. But one day, God will take this “veil” away. Then we can celebrate God’s goodness in all its fullness. Are you looking forward to this moment? How does this expectation help you deal with hardships here and now?
