How to Handle Affliction and Suffering

DEN 8 z 18

### Battling doubt and unbelief “And Jesus said to him … ‘All things are possible for one who believes.’ Immediately the father of the child cried out and said, ‘I believe; help my unbelief!’” (Mark 9:23-24) Genesis 3 is the first time Satan is mentioned in the Bible. He speaks to Eve and sows doubt in her heart. He makes her believe that God is not as good and trustworthy as she thought He was. Eve's faith in her Creator shakes and she makes a dramatic decision that plunges all of humanity into disaster. Nowadays, Satan still tries to sow unbelief and doubt. Ideally, of course, he would like people to not think about God at all and never come to know Him. But when people are genuinely interested in the Biblical message, he tries to challenge their faith. We see many examples in the Bible of people who are full of faith, but also of people who doubt. One such example is a father who comes to Jesus with his sick child. He desperately wants his son to be saved, but his faith is so weak! He cries out in tears, “I believe; help my unbelief”. And Jesus helps him. His child is healed. If you have doubts and your faith is shaken, be aware that this could be an attack from Satan. Ask Jesus to strengthen your faith and remove any unbelief from your heart.
