1, 2, and 3 John and Jude are once again general epistles, written to broader audiences rather than specific communities. Both 1 John and Jude address the increasing threat of false teachings about Jesus Christ, particularly that he wasn’t fully human. 2 John picks up this theme and invites its readers to keep their focus on Jesus. 3 John is actually the shortest book in the New Testament and was an encouragement to faithfulness to the work of God.
