We were all created with the need for affirmation. Our kids will seek affirmation, but we need to teach them that the ultimate place to find that affirmation is in Christ. If our children rise and fall on the words we speak over them, they will certainly be left wanting because we are not perfect as parents. The final words for their life should be determined by what Christ thinks of them.
