DAY 5: NOW NO CONDEMNATION
‘Now no condemnation’ means exactly what it says. You are no longer under condemnation! But my, how hard that is to believe at times. This scripture is one you should learn off by heart because you have to consistently convince your body, your brain and your being that this one is true. There is so much in this life throwing condemnation at us. People like to remind us of the past; even in Jesus’ life people liked to remind Him that He was ‘just the carpenter, Joseph’s son’, and He was the Christ! Sometimes our own minds and memories can also come at us, throwing shame, leading to condemnation. Some of you today need to forget your past and open your eyes to see that now there is no condemnation.
This ‘now’ is strategically placed, which you’ll particularly notice when you read Romans as one full book. The ‘now’ is placed after Paul has shown you the gospel message and the saving power of Jesus Christ. This ‘now’ is because of all that Christ has done for you, because you couldn’t earn this by your futile thinking or your good works, because now you realise that the only way to salvation is through grace and faith in Jesus Christ alone. Because you have accepted and believed, now you can stand without condemnation, in Christ Jesus, set free from the law of sin and death.
I am so grateful for the ‘now’ of life in Jesus!
